Our tourist visa is about to expire in less than a month. It has been unfortunate that we haven't seen much of Europe, but the fact that we have seen some of it is satisfying. Plus, we've gained wisdom on how to prepare for the next time we come. We're not done with you, yet, Europa!
We have so many pictures that I need to post....Gosh, I'm sorry, ladies and gentlemen. Admittingly, it is difficult to add photos to this blog using this weebly system....Somehow, I need to convert this blog and edit it profusely. We want to use this blog as an electronic memory/diary. It saves paper and it won't rot. :-)
Random thought - what would happen if the internet was no more? All that knowledge that is being catalogued electronically and there was no way to rerecord it physically....gosh that would be a lot of books. It probably won't happen, unless humans become extinct. ANYWAYS:
Ok, guys, here is the layout of our plans. It's crude and broad, but we think it will work. We have _ steps.
1) We want to stay legal and not stay within the Schengen area. We want an easy transition for the next time we arrive into Europe. That means leaving for the UK where we can stay for up to 6 months. (Plus, I want to see Scotland. Miguel wants me to get it out of my system. He has no desire to see it. -sigh- )
2) We are applying for hosts/accomodations like crazy on these two websites: www.workaway.info and www.helpx.net . For the rest of our time in the Schengen zone, we are applying to potential hosts before we leave for the UK. So far, we've been looking into Germany/Alemania and France/Francia. (I need to incorporate more Español into my everyday language and writing. It's about time.)
3) If we cannot find a host, we will travel to Paris in our last days to sightsee a little, with no money except for the Chunnel and food, and travel via the Chunnel.
4) Plan to stay in the UK in the London or Scotland area until December when we can come back. We want to stay in France for the holidays and start off our year amongst the French.
That's the plan for now, but we are open for opportunities. In fact, we're making the best out of our stay in Barcelona after we finish our obligations. We've walked to the beach to see movies, enjoy the sea, and people watch. We're planning on visiting Sitges again and having our cocktails by the sea. Why not?
Tonight, we will be joining our friend Claudia to see what is happening at the CCCB close to Plaça Espanya. I've heard that there is a movie, concert, and a possible circus act. I think we need this nice outing. Plus, Friday we will be with her again to see a museum that has a rainforest inside and, apparently, the best gazpacho we will ever have. I'm excited for that.
We are enjoying what life has to offer and appreciate what we already have.
Oh! I forgot to mention that my husband and I have decided to go back to school in Monterey, CA. We want to move there for Miguel's graduate school and my chance at getting a Bachelor's. We REALLY want this. We just have to prepare for it while we're in Europe. We will be looking for jobs and housing, but I might have to wait to return to the US because we only have one ticket, so far, for us to return. Miguel will be returning indefintely to CA. His school will start a week after he arrives and we would need the time to prepare for moving there. It's imperitive that he returns on time. If we get a second ticket that happens to be earlier, he will use that one. Otherwise.....I will be in the UK for a bit longer until we have another ticket. Maybe it will be my chance to visit Ireland and Scotland a bit more. ;-)
You never know what life might throw at you, but enjoy the life's play. There's no rehearsal, just improvisation.
